Old Friends Think Alike

August 19, 2010

Yesterday I woke up and was greeted by this beautiful sky…

Only to be further greeted by this image, from one of my oldest friends, on Facebook.

Our tiny camera phones capture very nearly the same images of our Los Angeles lives.  Old friends think alike.

How to Be Alone

My friend shared this with me and I want to share it with you.

A New Friend

March 24, 2010

Marc Jacobs Mercer Peet satchel (not the same purse I found)

Good news…after spending the better part of the afternoon rummaging through the purse, calling bad phone numbers, googling her, and calling her credit cards, I finally connected with the woman who left her purse at the cafeteria.

She called me about 30 minutes ago (after I left my phone number with her credit cards).  She was very happy and bought me a Coffee Bean Vanilla Ice Blended.

She is the nicest lady and I learned quite a bit about her in our brief encounter.  It was a little weird while we chatted because I already found out a bit about her through the bag rummaging.  Like when you run into an old friend and they tell you what they have been up to and you pretend like you didn’t know but you actually did know because you’ve seen all their latest Facebook statuses.  I am really good at gathering clues and investigation.  I have also been told that I would be an excellent detective or spy from people who know absolutely nothing about police or spy work.

We might have lunch next week.  Though she’s leaving her job on Wednesday so I won’t hold her to it if she’s too busy.   I love meeting people under unusual circumstances.

I think the Vanilla Ice Blended is already affecting me.

Revamping the blog

June 3, 2009

If anyone is still reading this, I’m going to turn this into more of a travel blog soon in preparation of my big RTW trip next year.  I’m hoping to leave in April 2010 but will see how it goes.  I know, I should have a definite date, and I will soon but I need to spend some more time figuring out how much money anticipate having by then.  My goal is to have this blog revamped by the end of this month and more of a RTW focused blog, with some random little adventures thrown in.  But  it’ll be extremely hard as I’m going on a dream trip to Peru at the end of the month and need to plan for that and I’m going to be very busy over the next few weekends, so who knows!

Some quick goals by July 2009:

  • Make this a RTW focused blog, with some random little adventures thrown in, deleting unrelated posts and recategorizing
  • Start linking to other travel blogs and leaving comments
  • Blog about upcoming San Diego and Peru trips
  • Blog about past trips of just the cities that I’ve been to in 2009
  • Blog with a minimum of one photo per post…a little hard when both your cameras are BROKEN!!!
  • Starting thinking about how to make this blog lucrative

5:30 am

April 10, 2008

I woke up incredibly early today.  I had some wine with friends for Wino Wednesday last night so I’m not sure why the early wake up but here are some things I did in my 3 hours:

  • Read some articles in Nylon
  • Listened to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
  • Saved March and April photos to my laptop and burned them onto dvd
  • Rifled through my statements and receipts for tax season
  • Thought about going for a jog/walk but since A was not awake, there was no real motivation for that

I wanted to go through more clothes for the clothing swap but I already have a ton ready and taxes are urgent.  I really need to purge my stuff but it is very hard for me.  I’ve been reading some good articles on uncluttering and it is motiviating me little by little.

I am so excited about this weekend.  The poppies and wildflowers at the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve are at their peak!

I’ve finally decided to join the world of blogging!  A little late to the party but I still plan to have a good time.  My goals for this blog are have a venue for my thoughts and little adventures in travel, art, photography, music, politics, food, and everything else.  I’m also hoping to develop my writing, which is ashamedly, lacking.   I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m excited to learn along the way.  Now if only I can figure out how to select a new font…
